After attending Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design in WI, I worked as a graphic designer for many years. Then I started traveling to NM. After being so inspired by the land, light, and artists, I returned to painting.. After doing a 2 year breast cancer series, I’m now working on abstract florals in resin, acrylic, and oil. My latest creations are super fun and whimsical florals and shapes. I build up layers of acrylic and resin to make them look three-dimensional. My artwork has been exhibited MN galleries, including the MSP airport. In 2021, I began curating shows at the Bakken Museum, and in 2024, at The Dow Art gallery through today.

I use many different mediums, such as acrylics, inks, resin, pumice, oil and dry pastels on canvas and wood. For me, working in a single medium is restrictive to my artistic process. I work intuitively and each work manifests its own individual style, shapes, and subjects towards something unintended. Contact me at jodijanzart@yahoo.com. 612-801-1323.
My artistic influences range from mid 20th century women working with Abstract Expressionism, to the Neo-Expressionism of the 1970’s and 80’s. My work is healing for me and documents my journey to understand my life, what I see, and how I feel. I get excited by vibrant and sublime colors and moods, exploring many techniques and tools.
